Very good movie. You seen the director’s cut?

nah only seen it once in theater, but it didn't really hit for me like yall. Might have to look into that one of these days.

yeah id probably put it in my top 20 or 30 of all time

such a perfectly realized dark comedy dystopia infinitesimal detail of the gargantuan sets, prediction of how normalized plastic surgery and terrorist bombings would become, the protagonist daydreaming his dreary dayjob away as winged superhero escaping the beaurocratic grind, the absurd rigidity of the beaurocracy, Gilliams typically hectic mise en scene, the physical gags resulting from backwards dystopian architectuire etc, comedic handling of a brutal totalitarian state, the stellar cast of Brit comedians plus DeNiro randomly, the double fake out ending, "care for a little necrophilia" etc etc i could keep going

They're both great but also pretty different from each other. 2 is way darker.

Listened to Michelle Zauner from Japanese Breakfast on Conan's podcast earlier, she seems awesome. When she started talking about The Sopranos

More snicker than laugh out loud

And more at the moments that aren't cramming humor down you throat (applies to all comedy for me, people/scenrios are much funnier when they're not trying to be funny)

However we collectively lost our shot for the "care for a little necrophilia" scene
