Everyone in this country was f***ing duped lol. If you were good at school you were just shepherded down that university route and told it was the right thing to do. Then successive governments hiked tuition fees to the nth degree and sold loans off to private companies charging so much interest that none of them will ever be paid off
Gf says they vanquished interest on student loans in Canada so she's not doing too bad

Reading about Dostoevsky's life and holy s***
They sentenced the members of the circle to death by firing squad, and the prisoners were taken to Semyonov Place in Saint Petersburg on 23 December 1849. They were split into three-man groups and the first group was taken in front of the firing squad. Dostoevsky was the third in the second row; next to him stood Pleshcheyev and Durov. The execution was stayed when a cart delivered a letter from the Tsar commuting the sentence.
Imagine going through that then being sent straight to Siberia for 4 years. How did he not completely lose his mind
