Try pretending he's whispering directly down your neck and earhole when he does his spoken word bits
Jamming Queens of the Stone Age today because of the new album which I hadn't heard
In Times New Roman is mostly just fine, solid songwriting and production, not their most interesting work but Carnavoyeur and Emotion Sickness are awesome and carry the album. The personal angle of the lyricism helps a lot.
Era Vulgaris is an interesting one. Hadn't heard it ages but I've had Make It Wit Chu (for karaoke) and 3's & 7's in rotation lately so I wanted to run it back. Total mess of an album, but the high moments are f***ing great and the overall sound/approach is very cool and unique. I feel like 70% of the album is just them being as obnoxious as possible until the melodic chorus comes in but then there's gems like this:

You waited almost a day to post this
I let Fidelio cover it and didn't care until I saw him praising Gerald
Even RASIE wouldnt say that s***
Lmao rvi has already said that's what it feels like when he's listening to Pulp

Read this Genghis Khan book you nerd
Dylan has many voices and whiny is not really how I would describe any of them. Wheedling, at worst.

I know the moments, he does it quite a bit. I think its a compelling technique but I get what you mean.

I've read a bit about the Mongols, they weren't very nice
He sounded like a wise old hobo on his first album
!https://youtu.be/dc0konC8Kn8How do you rank his version of Rising Sun against the others?
I never viewed Dylan as some wise sage beyond his years just some kid talking out of his ass that happened to think of some clever s*** sometimes. I find that way more relatable.

I loved these guys in middle school. Rock just the way I liked it

Same! I was a big fan around the time Era Vulgaris came out and then kinda lost touch with them until Like Clockwork brought me back in for a while.
Now I'm finding a lot of new friends and acquaintances who love them and I'm appreciating them all over again. Rated R was always my favorite.

This is pretty true until Blood on the Tracks/Desire when s*** gets real
Blonde On Blonde also has One of Us Must Know which is one of the most heartbreaking songs I know, just super vulnerable and intense

Another Side of Bob Dylan has some of the most heartfelt breakup s*** I've ever heard, but he's still just a young dumbass

Animals and Dylan nearly tied tbh, Bob knocks that performance out of the park
