forreal can’t recall what’s come out since then. The last time I went to the theaters more than few times in a year was like 2019.

I see no point with how quickly movies are out on streaming now
The theater experience is cool and s*** but eh. Especially with crowds and talking people and s***. It's not worth it for most movies.

S***ty audiences aside like idk there hasn’t been a lot of movies coming out that’s made me wanna be like wow I need to go to see this. But yeah seems they’re mostly going to streaming. I’m just out of the loop with s*** in theaters.

Right haha I think the last movie I was hyped to go see was The Lighthouse
I don't even know what the hell has been going on the last couple years

A movie theater alone
I have no interest in either movie. I seem to be the only person in the world who doesn’t lol.
Opp looks boring
And barbie is just delightful
Ugly Betty de-programming the dolls with feminist journal entries was very unexpected
It's not as good as tenet but it's really great. Tenet is his best movie imo
Tenet was insane
nothing seems all that interesting lately

having high hopes for barbie.
oppenheimer looks less interesting but idk i loved tenet
Oppenheimer looks much better
Barbie looks fun but it’ll inevitably inspire more s***ty corporate toy films. Gerwig and her husband are overrated directors and all they’re really bringing to the film is a corporate critique built into the corporate product. It’s just a sneering sense of irony. It’ll have annoying “culture war” politics imbedded in it that allows online brained weirdos to project whatever they want on to it. Gerwig in interviews comparing it to a Pressburger & Powell or Jacques Demy film is utterly embarrassing. Oppenheimer on the other hand is an original non IP film shot on 70mm and looks to be Nolan fully evolving and maturing as a filmmaker both on a technical and emotional level.

A thoughtful arthouse type director taking on a vapid subject like Barbie is kinda fun though
i watched pans labyrinth last night it was cool af

We used to rightfully call that selling out. Like I said, it’ll probably be fun, but I’d rather put my money towards original films made by interesting artists who were passionate about their subject matter rather than a clever toy commercial.

Well you sell out by definition the second you take any $$$ for your art so I never put much stock into that term, but I get your point. I don't get the vibe that's what Greta's doing though.
I think you have to sacrifice your principles and beliefs for cash to truly "sell out" is what I'm saying. Nothing about this movie says that to me. That's all.

Can't remember last time any year had so many exciting projects incoming

With the writers and actors strikes on top of all of these big blockbusters bombing—I’m really hoping there’s a New “New Hollywood” around the corner. This is all eerily similar to what happened to the studios in the 60’s. There’s even a big dumb Cleopatra movie in production.
