people in this thread and in real life it seems love this Zach Bryan guy. Only listened to a few things by him. Give 2 songs of his that I would really like. trying to add some contemporary country artists to my country playlist

I'm super not down for modern country, but he's got an incredibly deft pen and Midas touch for soul crushing/rousing heartland style anthemic choruses that turn the songs into something universal. I've only done it all the way through twice and kind of avoid it because I'm not trying to get that emotional all the time.

yeah the song went super viral after this season came out. Tbh I really disliked this season and watching it really pointed out the flaws in the show as a whole. Season 1 was cool though.

I feel like Zach is going to turn into the Radiohead of country music in that he's going to be the one everybody names as the modern goat while people who listened to a lot of modern country are going to be like

The dumb trope of bringing in a random side character (every season) that no one has seen or heard of before to be killed off because the writers are too afraid to kill off a main character the overuse of parallel editing. weak storyline that has been re-hashed again and again every season. bizarre character archs and characters making decisions that don't make any sense based on previous episodes.

don't get me wrong the show is well made production wise, but it doesn't make up for the poor storytelling

Yeah I finished it for the GF but it was easy to pick apart and I struggled to hide how hard I was rolling my eyes

yeah i think the combination of anthemic and devastating quality is a big reason why his fanbase is so rabid. hes got some songs that make me emotional even though i cant relate to them personally

I saw an interesting take that compared his rise to something like Nirvana did in the 90's. He's selling records and while not a mainstream name yet gets nods as something special. Country music feels broad enough to not divide the talent pool.

He's got a number 1 single and album this year. He's become household this year

Yea but I never hear him on the radio and he didn't even perform at the CMA's. But it was cool to see good natured dude Jellyroll give him a lot of praise during his speech. Idk if his popularity is in different circles then the other mainstream country artists.
