Listened to Cat Power’s You Are Free and really wanted to love it, but I feel like for most of the tracks she vocally meanders. The songs almost always sound like they’re building to something that never comes. The instrumental arrangements hold it together. The one two punch of Maybe Not and Names is really strong tho. But this is probably a case of needing multiple listens cause the first time around if it isn’t immediate—then the second listen is when you drop expectations and just take it in as is.

I listen to rain sounds at night through spotify so my entire spotify wrapped was just rain sounds...
