One of my favorite discoveries from last year. It’s like the most lush and pretty work from Carole King and Joni Mitchell (the Laurel Canyon sound in general) just made bigger and fuller. This opening title track is incredible.

pretty decent stuff. gets really nice at the end

    Just stream

downloading isnt the problem, its having so much stuff im interested to listen to.

and it feels like a good 5-10% of the stuff I listen to isnt on streaming anyway which already gets annoying and I just use it sometimes on my work computer/in the car. and its also nice to organize the rest of the stuff exactly how I want it and not be subject to things like every title having "2017 Remaster" in the title or having to sift through messy streaming discographies with a bunch of versions or whatever

Yeah I feel like I wouldn't be able to make a real connection with anything outside my usual wheelhouse after 3 to 5 listens

I let the connection just happen naturally but when it hits I go marination mode like a motherfucker

my wheelhouse is bigger now so i dont think it takes me as many as it used to. and thats the minimum just for the first 2-3 months after i peep, a lot end up getting more. and the goal is for all of them to eventually get more every once in a while as the years pass

also listen for about 10 hours a day so i try to keep an acceptable balance

That Monsters of Folk album from 2009 should be so much better thought about. It’s the rare supergroup that actually lives up to the talent involved. Everybody brings their A game crafting immediately memorable songs—as if they’ve been around forever. Tracks like The Right Place and Magic Marker are just so nice.

pull up with your ranking then

im with you that those albums are at least decent (11-13 are pretty much tied anyway) but cant justify any of them above anything from 1980-2000. and even Rattle and Hum just cuz a few of those studio cuts are so great

hope you're not a Pop detractor, that one could honestly move up a few spots with more time
