I think Harmony tapped into some real magic with Gummo but I havent done JDB yet

and I remembered it was an interview with fking Pierce Morgan that I couldn't not watch

The VVitch had a budget of 4 million Lighthouse was 11 million

then he got 90 million for Northman and lost the sauce and/or studio didnt let him go ham cause too much money. just one example but trust me id rather have a bunch of cheap and interesting films than what Marvel/Disney has turned the business into.

Cursory look at my highest rated films for each year this decade compared to last decade honestly make me want to cry a little. Looks like were running on fumes here in comparison.

I'm not speaking objectively either it has more to do with my disdain for most (not all) 500 million dollar blockbusters. But then again I also don't really care about being entertained so maybe I really am an insufferable snob.

And would you look at that You can actually rank the films from best to worst by their budget.
The Witch at #1 with only 4 mill But I actually like all of Eggers films.

I think I just wanna be moved. Werckmeister can do that as effectively as an Avengers movie for me maybe ill stay thinking about one for longer afterwords though

There Will Be Blood. I respect that it's like a perfectly crafted movie and everything but the s*** just gets me everytime I've tried to watch it

Seeing Dano's character get his skull caved in with a bowling pin is though

Herzog is the man. Huge influence on me in film school. I almost got to meet him in Munich but didn't have the money to go at the time

Not the first thing he's acted in though He plays this cynical tyrant father in a Harmony Korine film called Julien Donkey Boy. Not sure how you feel about Korine but definitely worth watching just for Herzog's performance im guessing a bit different than his character in the Mandalorian
