both 60s Band albums beat any Kinks album for me. for the album era artists i mostly did it by which artists have the biggest masterpieces

Kinks 1970 and 1971 albums also pretty important for their overall discog for me so that also factors in.

I put the two Band albums up there with any Kinks too but they only had the two. The Kinks had twice as many albums around that level, plus a bunch of god level singles including your precious all time game changer You Really Got Me

I have nostalgia factoring in to my love for Neil Young, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd and a few other but I didn't hear a lick of Beatles, Stones, Dylan or Kinks from my parents. The Band jist conjured the most vivid olde world rootsy jams imaginable for a couple years there and they still sound timeless.

The deep cuts are better but they had a couple songs that everyone knows from movies and s***

Even if Closer was also 1979 do you think 2 albums is enough to compete? So many Goliaths with multiple masterpieces in that decade.

But tbh I would assume anybody voting for JD would plop them in the 70s
