I'm like the one dude that thinks Drunken Angel is a 5/5 movie even amongst Kurosawa fans who think it's just alright
We all have our vices
For sure but Chinatown objectively one of the most masterly executed epics oat which explored the corrupting influence of greed and power (something Polanski knows about more than most having grown up in a concentration camp). It's definitely slow but deeply refined. And Nicholson is the goat.

He's not my goat but he's definitely a demon

I can't decide if transformation master DDL is my goat or Nicholson who generally just plays variations of himself with varying degrees of intensity
surprised De Niro and Pacino are above Jack on the short list of post Brando actors tbh
Oscars actually do get it right sometimes cause they're the most decorated actors Academy history

Pacino, Gandolfini and Mifune resonate the most with me. De Niro's a weirdo but I love him too.
I binge on occasion once a year
You should watch Drunken Angel by Kurosawa it would remind you of me

Pacino great but always a little too bombastic when hes not playing Micheal Corleone. im with you on Mifune and Gandolfini of course.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman another one that made everybody else look like amateurs and could cut you right to the core.
Carey Grant and especially Jimmy Stuart were absolutely cooking for their time as well.

Big phony not throwing Joaquin in there
tho I suppose he killed his appeal with the Joker s***. Never got the PSH appeal.
Pacino's best role is Heat

yeah obv Freddie Quell one of my favourite performances but he doesnt have anything else that touches that and only a couple other real standout roles besides The Master. and im the biggest Joker hater there is.
Also agreed on Jimmy Stuart

its not so much "resonating" as being in awe of his skills as a f***ing tweakshow in Charlie Wilsons War and PDL
Magnolia and Almost Famous are ones that resonate. and his intoxicating performance in The Master.
