Hello everyone,

We are doing a ★ FAM ★ film directors poll.

Vote for your favorite directors of all time.

Rules:

• You can vote up to 70 directors but you should at least vote for 15 directors.

• the lists should be ranked and numbered.

Example:
1. Alfred Hitchcock
2. Ingmar Bergman
3. Martin Scorsese
4. ...

• weighted counting. The first few places get more points as the differences fizzle out towards the backhalf of the list.

• It's possible to vote for any director. Like if you are a fan of someone who does mostly documentaries you can also vote for them.

• As for directors whose name starts with their surname just type them in the way they would be typed in their native language. example: Park Chan-wook NOT Chan-wook Park. But please check the "correct" english spelling (for example: Andrei Tarkovsky, not Andreij Tarkowskij).

• if there are two directors with the same name please specifiy them with their birth date. If you don't know it's fine (no one is able to know every filmmaker) but if you do it would help. Otherwise I'll be asking anyway.

Due date is January 31st.

id maybe recommend counting different though. since those current weights might give a lot more weight to lower, more common placements than rarer but high placements.

As much as I would like to take votes in my Best __ Of Each Year threads it would also be a terrible amount of work. Especially songs after like 1965 when things branched out so much that everybody would have a totally different looking list f*** all that counting

was thinking about the same thing but if you're able to make a list of 70 directors wouldn't you want the lower placements to receive more points than just 1? But yeah I get what you're saying. Thought about doing it in a way that the amount of directors matters but weighing each list differently would be kinda silly.

i havent seen nearly enough films to make a top 10 directors list, let alone 30, sorry m8

but one 1st place ranking probably shouldnt be outweighed by two 50th place rankings. for example

With this weight:

• 1st place would count for about the same as 2 8th places
• 1st place would count for 9x as much as 70th place, 5x as much as 20th place
• 18th place counts for twice as much as 70th place
• I rounded, but the low placements have pretty negligible difference which fits how people probably rank them when you get down that low
