lmaooo yeah if the flow of it doesnt work for you I dont think any video explanation will help. your only hope is to check out Ivans Childhood and Andrei Rublev then try again in a few years. Youre definitely not the first person that it didnt click for on first watch. I was astronomically high on shrooms for my fist watch which is basically cheating cause even a random tv commercial can be fascinating like that.

Solaris is one of the most boring films ive ever seen easily his most mind numbing for me.

if "boring" is your issue you should definitely just do chrono cause they generally got slower and more contemplative as he got older. Rublev has so many exciting and fascinating scenes I cant remotely call it boring. It was widely considered his opus for like half a century and Mirror only just started getting more praise afaict.

I'm much more okay with boring (or slow) if there is a plot. Boring abstraction is tough for me to swallow. i was kinda imagining/hoping that Solaris is slow Stalker pace or something except there's a plot and it's in space

You might be able to say there's more plot to Solaris, but there's also a f***load more scenes just yapping about philosophy the claustrophobic sets don't allow for the kind of flow he otherwise does so well.

Solaris was the first one I watch and it single-handedly turned me off Russian cinema for several years. Ivan Childhood floored me and bright me back. You might be better off checking out Cranes Are Flying from another director that heavily influenced Tark. Or just step back from Russian s*** for a bit.

I would strongly recommend checking out some earlier Malick before you dive into his mega opus as well. A lot of people still consider his first one his best.

I actually tried watching Eraserhead a long time ago and only got like 30min in. loved Blue Velvet and Mulholland. also set aside Lost Highway to watch with a friend

Tree of life is peak experimental/abstract lol. If you thought mirror was hard to follow then you probably would think it was as well.
