so I was looking through friends ratings on LB of Chungking Express, and noticed ATL watched it as well, decided to click on his profile and saw the last time he logged a film was late 2021.
I also knew that the last time he was around was the 1980s list (earlier 2022) which is also when I remember last seeing him. (The 60s list was early 2023 and he was not active).
The Twitter page that is linked to his LB account ( https://x.com/Doctaphil9?t=FXOaoI4uiZ8QwV7qw20YNQ&s=09 ) is notably filled with Baseball retweets (Braves) and a pin stating his home in NJ. He also shares his display name as his first and last name.
I did a quick Google and I think this is our dear friend Atl. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/atlanta/name/philip-white-obituary?id=36463838
Unfortunately, I think what VB was worried would be possible is true, and also considering his unfortunate battle with substances, the nature of the death described, and the allusion to loving baseball as well as the reference to living in NJ. The points all add up, assuming it's not all a coincidence, RIP
Is this what you were referencing in your reply above?
No i had no idea. Havent been ITT for like a week. If this is true thats so awful. He was such a nice guy. We lost an OG member, and it happened 2 years ago without any of us knowing.
RIP to a fellow Dawg. I'm glad to know that he got to see our Bravos win a world series before he bowed out of this life.

Yeah
VB contacted his sis and he posted an excerpt on the previous page.

Oh wow just read it. Damn. I wouldve never thought he struggled that badly with that stuff. He would sometimes talk about serious things like that in the fam thread but i mostly remember him just being a chill guy to talk with.
Good on you @Very_Based for reaching out to let his family know that he had an entire group of people that spent years laughing, arguing, and bantering with him.
F***....

I've been chatting with ATL's sister a bit over linkedin. Here is one of the messages she sent me. Hopefully this provides some closure for fam members. Love you all.
Olivia:
It makes me so happy to hear he had a community of people that he could share his passions with...Philip loved music & movies and introduced me to all of my favorites.
Philip suffered from debilitating anxiety, depression & OCD all of his adult life. He was seen by countless doctors and underwent several medical/psychiatric treatments. Life was incredibly hard for him and he ultimately took his own life in August of 2022. We were extremely close and while there will always be a hole in my heart, I have peace knowing that he is no longer suffering.
It means a lot to me that you reached out. While it of course brings up a lot of emotion, I’m grateful to know he is remembered fondly.
Thanks for reaching out like that I'm sure it meant a lot to her.
This has all been really upsetting. This little community has been a pretty big part of my life for well over a decade now and I think when you're just shooting the s*** online for a bit you don't really realise that. Love you all.
Legit might write down my KTT login in a notebook somewhere for my husband or someone to find if i meet an unexpected end somehow. And i'd leave directions for them sign in, find the Fam Thread in music section, and make a post letting everyone know i've officially quit KTT for good
At this point it's honestly unthinkable for me to suddenly disappear from a group/site i've been extremely active on for over a decade, talking to the same couple dozen people for most of that time, and have yall just wondering where I went for years if i got a pulmonary embolism or some s*** next week.
Thanks for reaching out like that I'm sure it meant a lot to her.

I honestly had a terrible f***ing sleep the night I found out. Must've waken up like 6 times but it felt like I never fell asleep

Thing with atl was that he usually disappeared for months at a time and I expected to see him again, but didn't realize just how long it had been.

its pretty wild how we are racking up the years as Fam at this point
this community definitely has a different feel to others ive been a part. something about the focus on our most intense hobbies alongside the old message board format instead of a quick text/voice chat format
we know more of each other's thoughts/opinions on some of our greatest passions than most anyone in our real lives which is an interesting thought
