I'm mostly listening to Death and Thrash Metal atm but I'm open to everything. I really loved Helloween's Wall Of Jericho but I like Iron Maiden so that was sort of a given
Individual Thought Patterns is my favorite Death album. For the gerne as a whole, either that or Nile's In Their Darkened Shrines so far.
Master Of Puppets and Reign In Blood still reign supreme for me when it comes to Thrash

never heard any of these names omg.
I realized that. thank you
Late last week I started having some really troubling visual migraines. About a quarter of my vision was getting taken out for 30-40 minutes in a row. The only other time in my life I was having them frequently was when I was drinking the most caffeine I ever have, so I decided to cut my caffeine intake to basically nothing. I'm trying to keep it to under 40mg a day so I don't reset the process.
I expected the headaches, which after 4 days are basically gone, but I didn't realize how impactful caffeine is on your dopamine. I am so depressed and irritable rn. I have to teach again in 3 weeks so I have time to get it under control, but wow, this s*** is weird. It feels like a really long molly comedown. I didn't realize how much my emotions have been impacted by substances for years now. I haven't skipped caffeine for more than 24 hours since the pandemic.
Point of this post: don't forget that caffeine is a d***. Getting off of it feels just as bad as other d****.

I haven't had one since Monday

Vision loss sounds crazy though.
If I quit coffee for a few days I just get slightly fatigued and that's it.

Visual migraines are scary s***. I get a little blind spot and then this big halo that sweeps off to the side over the course of a half hour. I had them in my twenties too. Apparently caffeine is a major trigger.
I haven't gone any extended time without caffeine since 2021. The low mood and lack of motivation is the worst part rn. I spent the whole day outside to help with it.
Check out Left Hand Path by Entombed. Probably the quintessential European death metal album.
What an amazing opener
now we gotta get @Elric to overcome his fear of harsh vocals and became a death metal fan too

figured. It's annoying cause my blind spot for modern music is rivaling Noirs caffeine blot outs but I'm trying to stay focused on that project.

Other than rap my formative bands were strictly Metallica and Sabbath, who are now my favorite band of the '70s. Judas Priest one of the best bands I discovered over the last half decade or so. Just haven't really dove into to the millions of bands that spring off from those guys yet except like Electric Wizard.
I think stoner, sludge and maybe doom are fairly easy for me to dig but again I just need time to put in the effort which I haven't had since I started my year by year spotlight project from 1955 on.
