Keep rewatching. The Coens-tier subtlety will jump out at you. Real Fargo/Burn After Reading stuff.

Read one review that said the mon was actually making fun of both sides, one more subtle than the other of course. The reviewer was pissed about it too

I seem to remember you believing the right wing propaganda about West coast cities being godforsaken war zones

I don’t know bout “war zones” but trust me most of Merica doesn’t want an Oakland, San Fran, Portland, environment in their cities

Funny enough besides Eugene/PDX most of Oregon doesn’t want to be associated with that either. Same with other parts of Cali

aren't the crime stats way worse for like Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, Missouri, Arizona, Illinoise, Michigan, Maryland, Arkansas, Ohio, Jersey, DC, Virginia etc a bunch of places not west coast? Oakland being the only real outlier.

anyway my point it letting the media tell you those leftie west coast cities are any worse than the rest of the country is an L. I wouldn't pass judgement or avoid any of the eastern/southern cities with way higher murder/rape stats because I havent been there. I have been to all those west coast (and some mid west) cities and theyre the same as any other cities. you should check them out some time with your own eyes.

Yea man democrat ran cities in those states have major crime problems. Nobody is gonna say DC, Baltimore, Memphis, Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, etc are the gold standard. But at least those cities don’t exactly choose to normalize it. Tbh I feel bad for decent people who have to deal with that s*** every day, like imagine living near a Kensington PA just because you happen to live on that side of the tracks.

I know Chicago has become a spotlight but last Labor Day like 50 people were shot and it wasn’t even 4th of July or New Year’s Eve. I think there’s a serious problem

yeah Chicago definitely has issues but its still not even in the top 20 worst cities for murder stats. ive been there and had great time.

im just saying youre playing right into their us vs them game when you claim a city youve never been to is a write-off and bother to specify which political party is in control of which hellhole city

I was high as s*** so second watch with be a whole other experience

Maybe I need to give it a rewatch but idk I thought it was just ok. I’ve seen better PTA flicks

But I have nothing against any of those cities, I wouldn’t mind going to New Orleans, Philly, even parts of Oregon lol. My point is when it comes to certain cities the leadership chooses to normalize this stuff whether it’s murders, shootings, d*** OD, and everything else because of politicization. This shouldn’t be considered normal on any level.

I live in Miami Dade, a melting pot city of different cultures, people, and a large criminal history but the approach of leadership is vastly different. Of course we have problems but it’s moving in the right direction

Yeah I was all the way onboard with what it was going for but it just didn't quite instantly floor me like everything from PDL to Phantom Thread did.

Characters weren't as finely drawn, dialog wasn't quite as unique and unpredictable. Was hoping he was going to be able to take Leo to a higher plane of performance but that didn't pan out. Big themes still, alot to process there.

Same entertaining for sure but yeah just didn’t do a whole lot for me. The performances were fine but didnt think anyone stood out tbh.

And it just wasn’t very compelling to me either. But it didn’t drag for me really so that’s a plus. A part of me feels it’s a little overhyped

Yea he was my fav character too, he always has that one expression. Great character actor.

Sinners on rewatch kicked it up a notch especially with headphones. The mon Delroy had the best performance outta both movies imo

Ok bro i don't really know who's trying to normalize what but it just feels like sometimes you regurgitate stuff you heard from fox News . but I know you're heard is in the right place. Just feels like I'm catching strays on the west coast sometimes.

We did plan on seeing that side of the country and doing an American music heritage road trip through Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans etc but had to postpone those plans while y'all's president was threatening to annex my country

Vancouver also a melting pot with alot of issues but it's the same dismal tide everywhere.

Broski you know it’s all love even if we disagree on this stuff I think the propaganda gets thrown from both sides. Seeing the right fully embrace “cancel culture” now is hilarious and embarrassing at the same time. Plenty of other stuff too. But I would never take politics personal.

I would love to trade you Minnesota for any part of Canada you don’t want. Don’t worry about the annex

    of course

I only take it personal/cut off people who are talking actual hateful s***. cant say it without sounding like an idiotic hippie but were all the same fking species trying to make this s*** work and I want to get along with everybody lol. the only real "them" in us vs them is the powers that be trying to turn us against each other.

even the part of Canada that I find the most off putting (Quebec) is amazing and I had a great time there lol wouldn't trade them for any state. the frenchies we get on the west coast are almost always arrogant f***ers but to be fair always good craftsmen and I still respect them.

I do worry a little about the annex he was definitely trying to float the idea to see how much blowback he would get

The movie imo shows both sides as criminals who believe they are soldiers of truth and justice. The sole difference being one side is backed by the government and a secret society
