Nirvana are overrated af omg
i like them but even In Utero is catchier/poppier than a Big Star album. they lack rawness and variety/depth in writing. not performance
okay i take it back somewhat. Nevermind is still a classic and better than In Utero by a considerable margin

I prefer most of their live versions on Live at Reading. Even Unplugged. Nevermind's production is just so dull.

In Utero is clearly their best though

NO RECESS
Kurt had a rare electricity in his voice ive only heard in a handful of singers like Janis, Iggy and Little Richard
yeah of course Nirvana is overrated and overplayed but still potent if you can avoid that
nah
Kurt's vocals are at their best tho
You prefer Neverminds production too? Dave’s drums sound great on In Utero

Yea man I'm going In Utero all the way, I rarely listen to Nevermind these days. Riffs and especially drums sound

honestly i like them more and more as time goes on. still not a favorite of mine though
i do find it interesting how theyre probably the most "right place, right time" band of all time. i feel like any other artist on their level of impact did more actual innovation than them. not that theyre not still original and do their own thing but its very clear where they came from and they only sound like a watershed moment in music when you take into account the cultural and industry context, not just from the music alone
all 3 of their albums are pretty similar quality for me but i dont quite have any of them as a masterpiece. non album stuff really good although im not a big fan of the mtv unplugged
