He hates midwestern emo s*** because of the vocalists

Someone rec'd that album to me a while back and yeah the vocals were the one thing that kept me from fully enjoying it

I'm not opposed to emo stuff as you know but there's something about that vocal style that I find really grating

I think I'd remove Highlights, Feedback, Freestyle 4, maybe FML, I Love Kanye, 30 Hours, No More Parties and Facts.

The rest would make a pretty awesome 37 minute album.

    1. Ultralight Beam
    2. Father Stretch My Hands
    4. Famous
    5. Low Lights
    6. Waves
    7. Real Friends
    8. Wolves
    10. Fade
    11. Saint Pablo

A bit difficult to rearrange and therefore I decided to listen in the right order without the tracks I don't like.

The darker moments on the album sound kinda goofy now. Even Wolves, which I think is the strongest song on here. At least there's more to it. In general the spiritual songs are stronger.

Removing Feedback and Freestyle 4 nullifies your entire argument!!!! I admit 30 hours and NMPILA don't really "fit" on the album but they're still good songs that I keep as extras

  • 1. Ultralight Beam
    2. FSMH1+2

    1. I Love Kanye
    2. NMPILA
    3. 30 Hours

Freestyle 4 has a nice concept but is about as convincing as a plastic skull or red-colored water to imitate blood. It lacks the ferocity described in the lyrics. The drums sound to tinny and frankly boring.

Feedback's beat is ok albeit rather generic. It also lacks tons of energy and more interesting ideas to work with that beat. Ye's flow on it isn't that interesting either.

NMPILA is an ok MadLib beat with two rappers doing good show-off verses but little else. Really sounds like a B-side. I prefer Ye on Saint Pablo. As outlandish and rocky he might sound on that.

30 Hours was ruined in the last update.

Album is flames regardless of edits so u kinda right but the background behind TLOP's track listing and the constant changes makes it the easiest to have discussion about changing. It's better than most of his discog without the edits

Nah Feedback and Freestyle 4 are both classics.

Having them bookend Low Lights is a great example of how the manic and vulgar highs get balanced by the religious and familial themes. That's why Highlights kinda ruins it for me.

Feedback crazy s*** talk outro segueing into Low Lights

Low Lights' God loving monologue sequeing into Freestyle 4

I think they sound flat. Whatever.

There is also another popular album that can be edited heavily and improve from it.

    Reflektor.

Last week I sped up tracks like Normal Person and Joan of Arc and they've improved tremendously. Joan of Arc turned from a boring Smiths-inspired anthem (not to say that it was the influence. rather the fact it was a boring anthem in itself that made it boring.) to a Gun Club-like song. Even the vocals improved.

if you cut half of it and change the tempo of half of the tracks it works.

    Reflektor
    Flashbulb Eyes
Here Comes The Night Time 1.25xspeed
    Normal Person 1.5xspeed
    Joan of Arc 1.5xspeed
    Afterlife 1.25speed
    Supersymmetry

Still have to figure out the rest.

whoa that's tough. Maybe add some dark metal guitars near the end and let the song end in a 5 minute cacophony.

Damn this some dedication to save a mid album. I'll stick with Funeral and Neon Bible
