Used my old 2016 list for a reference while making my new one (and to make sure I wasn't forgetting any).

Comparing the two, I'm a bit surprised how different they are tbh. Aside from a couple albums, there's nothing on my new list that I wasn't already a fan of back in 2016. But the old list has several albums from some of my favoriteon the old list that I just haven't kept close to me over the past year or so — less Nick Cave/Grinderman & Waits, for example.

I also found myself wanting to make room for more Rap releases, film & game scores, and several big nostalgic picks for my new list. I think the new list does a great job representing what I've been playing in the past year or so, probably even better than my 2016 list did when I made it.

Some choice songs I had playing during the half hour I spent making my list

I can put that FFTL track on repeat and just let it ride for 45 mins straight I swear Young Skrillex blessed my teen years with that one

If Wooh da Kid's Black Out mixtape released 1 year earlier instead of in 2010, I would've had to put it on my list for this song alone tbh:

One of the hardest tracks of that whole Bricksquad/1017 era

He's been on my permanent "zone out" playlist ever since I watched my first Greenaway film a few years ago. I'm not even really a fan of that Man on Wire film, but Nyman's soundtrack for it has some of my faves — including "Fish Beach" originally from his Drowning By Numbers score

Man I really tried with that Lou Reed album. Wonder what I’m missing.

It's just the perfect collection of songs to summarize the various styles across his whole career. The first 5 tracks alone give me the same enjoyment I get from listening to New York in its entirety nowadays tbh.

"Tatters" is an update to late-70s Reed. "Turning Time Around" sounds like post-Cale VU/Transformer doo-wop. "White Prism" and "Big Sky" are classic hard rock Reed. Then you've got masterful drone-y s*** like "Rock Minuet" and "Like a Possum" that calls back to "Sister Ray", "The Gift", MMM s*** that puts my d*** on brick.

Only song that I kinda get tired of is "Future Farmers of America", cause it often makes the 3 minutes runtime feel like 10

If "Street Hassle" was recorded 30 years later (unchanged obvs) and somehow ended up on this album, then it'd be top 3 of the 21st century for me.

It was one of the more recent lists we did IIRC, cause my name was "RASIE" then and i never changed it after that. (In one of the previous decade's vote thread, i had an old name, which gives me a good sense of how old it is haha)
