depends on the s***scenes though. For example, the scenes in Noe's Love (I actually like him after checking out Irreversible and Enter the Void) have some sort of narrative weight to them because you can sense the relationships and there are other hints for the story but they are waaaaaay too long. They totally kill the pacing.
totally agree otherwise tho. That's puritanical nonsense. However, eroticism can often work better with showing less.
Yeah there are a lot of s***scenes ive seen in films over the past few years that either do obviously have plot relevance, or thematic relevance.
But generally i take the position that whether or not a s***scene correlates with plot, it doesn't matter (or at best, i dont care). If its formally interesting, its fine by me. If it connects to something i've gotten from the film, also fine by me.
And def agree about the eroticism bit. Was just reading an older essay the other day about the need for eroticism in film and other media, along with the need for people to distinguish it from obscenity/pornography (and to challenge the people who refuse to make that distinction)
idk y’all I’m usually down to see some t*** even if it doesn’t do much to move the plot forward
if you guys havent already checked them out, duster has been a nice listen during the whole world ending thing

Yeah i f*** with em, and even prefer them most of the time
Theres a few i hate though. Like right there's like 5 different versions of both VU&Nico and WL/WH on Apple Music (including the OG mono recording), and only one of them sounds good. And it takes me forever to remember which one it is
I need a new Radiohead album
maybe I’m selfish, but I feel like every active artist should be working on a new album right now
feel like they should keep it
Feels like you can ignore it you don't want it b****

Lord knows Neil and Bob are and they got half a century on these fools
