A staple in 00s cinema. Late-career Eastwood acting and directing. Probably something I'd describe as "conservative cinema". While I don't think it's a downright terrible film, I do find the themes of the film quite... idk muddy? I understand that Eastwood's character is meant to be received as an ass, bigot, racist, etc.. but I also don't know if there is any sort of satisfying conclusion or arc for his character. I also don't find the acting all that good from most of the cast. Many of the characters feel one-dimensional and I'm not even gonna get into the stereotypes. Everybody already knows about the scene with the black guys. But yea, people who love this film (or just like it), what do you think the film's message is?
let's get into spoilers too because I find Eastwood's fate at the end particularly interesting.
