Adidas has such a rich archive of sneakers to recreate and draw inspiration, something that Nike really lacks imo. Adidas is only going up!

Just seems like every cool thing they’ve done in the past few years has been collab based, even when they make a new sneaker they can’t get it popping without a big collab

Edit: tbh I think nearly every sneaker company rn is like this so it doesn’t mean s***. Make new sneaker>do big collab> if it pops release sneaker in a million colourways

I mean if folks are getting caught up in off white/travis scott hype and can't look past that + SBs mania that's on them.

Nike is killing it on the tech front. Their NBA lineup designs have been top notch. 35s -- will go down as a top 10 Jordan design. They're in their bag with PE's/colorways.

Take away Yeezy, and where would adidas be right now in comparison? Genuine question as I personally don't check for adidas like that. I feel like they're strategy is banking on "culture" "creators" marketing gimmick for relevancy more-so Nike.

It's 2021 -- every brand's playing the big name affiliated/influencer marketing game: collab or no collab. If you align with the right person, it's a more guaranteed return on investment. I look at it as supplementary vs needing in order to get it popping if you're a Nike tier company. SNKRs ain't crashing every weekend for no reason. Nike just brought back Griffeys, pushing ACG, air max lineup consistency, running line going nuts...

Good info here appreciate it. Def right about the collab game, that’s definitely some s*** everyone is playing right now. I guess it’s just hard to get new sneakers going these days without a big brand/influencer push

I do think it goes back and forth though. Adidas might not be in the lead right now but just a few years ago ultraboosts and NMDs, as much as I hate them, had a ridiculous amount of huge mainstream appeal

I was talking pretty flippantly but let’s not act like the every day person flocking into Nike to cop acg’s. I was talking about mainstream s*** and anyways I was wrong as I said in my next comment

yesssirrr I just wish folks would think for themselves ya know? Probably comes with maturity/leveling up the self confidence. End of the day, to each their own tho. Can't knock anyone's taste.

    Copped these this AM:
    highsnobiety.com/c/athletics-footwear-one-2

Designed by Myles O. -- brother who drew up Raf's first brand footwear collection amongst other stuff. I really dig the references/execution. No in your face influencer push (yet). Just dropping the work and letting it speak for itself.

I also appreciate what Kiko's been doing at Asics (with his in-house role, I guess prior Kiko x Asics counts as a "collab"). Another example of crafting and dropping new new without hoeing for a influencer co-sign.

Yooo I love these. I saw some them around on some pages but wasn’t sure where they come from/the back story. I really like the less is more approach when it comes to marketing though, been working wonders for jjjjound. Might pick myself up a pair of these come summer!
