Either would be a great fit, in their own right. Even though Hedi would most likely get the most hype, I think Marc would end up making the better, more exciting collections/clothes in the end.

Hedi would want to rebrand somehow and they'd kill him...

Would've preferred Haider at Chanel instead of Tom Ford, but he'll good work there anyway

They've chosen Tom Ford? What a boring, safe choice if true. Hedi's a boring choice too, cause just like one lady pointed out on Substack, he'd be too focused on his aesthetic/style, destroy inclusivity (sizing wise)the Chanel brand has right now, and most likely turn Chanel into an even more exclusive/snobby brand somehow, cause of his outlook on fashion.(skinny/rockstar chic)

At the end of the day, Marc Jacobs is/was the right choice.

No. Haider works at Tom Ford now

Oh that's right, my bad lol. I know Tom Ford himself is retired, but I think he might come outta retirement if offered to work at Chanel

Hedi Slimane will end up getting the job though. His name will bring excitement/hype, and even if he does soft rebrand Chanel, whatever customers he makes double C lose, he'll gain in new/younger customers.(which will probably be the aim)

Probably doesn't care too, he could get investors easily, but every designer doesn't wanna be a business(wo)man

I guess but when he basically does the same style wherever he goes he might as well just do it himself

business wise he’ll bring more excitement and new customers. idk how a 100+ year old family owned brand will feel about skinny pants but it feels like the move most brands would make

Chanel is mostly women's wear focused, and Hedi isn't really known for that. He'd kill the menswear side though, and lead the charge of bringing slim tailoring back(people are already jumping back to slim/skinny fits tbh). Marc knows women's wear from working with LV, and then his own label, all these years.

He's not as one dimensional as Hedi, and he'd bring some much needed edge to the women's side. Honestly, they should hire both lol, Chanel has the funds.

No there's way too much liability and behind the scenes garbage when you start your own label. These small fry guys starting 'brands' now is a lot different too than the kind of label Slimane would want to start.

Bro in the comments said owning an Iceberg sweater was equivalent to owning a car back then lol. Those sweaters were probably $250-$300 a piece, in 90s money. Back when folks thought Jordan brand was going crazy for charging $140 for the 12s

Yep, PS1 games were like $50 back then, which is probably in line with what we pay today($70)even though I don't think inflation is the best measuring stick for then vs now comparisons. But cartridge games like SNES/Neo Geo, could get into the $100-$200 range in the early 90s
