I’ve been told the first 72 hours are the hardest and downtime hours. Get over that and keep yourself busy and you should be good.

i stopped 5 days in bc i had a business thing but i want to restart. Honestly, keep yourself busy and the key is electrolytes. hunger pangs are worst the first 1–3 days but you have to wait it out and realize they’re gonna go away in like 20-30 min when they come on

So I just finished my first 72 hour fast (80 hours if you want to include sleep) and I wanted to give a bit more detail around it that I haven’t seen online.

Day 1: reading about it people said this was the hardest day but for me I would say it’s the easiest. I’m very active with my fitness (6 days a week, ran marathons ,PT). Was able to go to the gym, did what I usually do just with much lighter weights and was able to get 10k steps in. Apart from the obvious hunger feelings didn’t see any other issues but sleep was hard as that was when my stomach went into overdrive.

Day 2: really poor sleep, couldn’t go to sleep until about 1:30am and had to wake up for 7am. I work from home from Monday to Friday so I have no commute to worry about energy. Day 2 was a struggle in the morning, body was really craving food. Had the stomach pain until about midday and went to the gym, again doing what I did on day 1 and the pain had gone after my workout. The night was tough as I had a poor sleep on day 1 and had no energy. Slept better on day 2 but still not great.

Day 3: now this is the tough one 😂 woke up absolutely wiped out energy wise, only way I could describe it is everything felt ‘light’. Couldn’t concentrate that well and the gym was an absolute no go. Was still able to get a few walks in and did some body exercises but by the night I was done.

Woke up at 5am (so my fast had finished) with a huge headache and stomach really painful. It felt like I was hungover. Had to go and eat straight away and everything immediately disappeared pain wise.

Past couple of days have been tough exercise wise. On my first day back eating I went to the gym but just felt I had no energy in me. Kept it light and got steps in. Today I went for a 3 mile run and had to stop a couple of times because I could not push it at all (like I said I’m very active and do 3 miles 4/5 times a week).

So in the 3 days I lost 10 pounds. 5 in day 1, 3 in day 2 and 2 in day 3. The stomach feels a lot less bloated than it normally does and my six pack is starting to come back out again.

I stuck to water, salt water (for sodium), coffee and green tea on the 3 days.

Would I recommend it? I obviously lost quite a bit of weight in a short space of time but the best way to lose it is the workout/eat healthy route.

Go back to work if you have so little to do you can do a 9 day fast
Why not enjoy your time off

making this to keep myself accountable

only water black coffee and electrolyte powder

I'm assuming you've been working your way up to this? Doing 1, 2, 3, days and so on?
