Gen 1
Never played
Gen 2

Gen 3

Gen 4
I’m going with the Sega Genesis. Despite the SNES being popular, we didn't have one at home, leading to fewer memories even though my earliest gaming memory was playing SF2 (i use term playing loosely here lol) on an SNES at my uncle's house, sparking my love for Fighting games. Anyway yeah the first console I figured out how to properly play was the Genesis, playing classics like Sonic, Mortal Kombat, and Streets of Rage.
Gen 5
Gen 5 was really my first legit generation and I’m going with the original PlayStation. Too many classics to name so I won’t even bother might be my goat console of all time
Gen 6
I’m actually gonna go with Dreamcast over PS2, Xbox and GameCube. I love those systems but Dreamcast was so special for me man. Sonic adventure, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, Power Stone, House of the Dead with the light gun… s*** was epic asf
Gen 7
I’m giving it to Microsoft with the Xbox 360. Amazing console with amazing games that also revolutionized the game with achievements and smooth online play with Xbox live. And aesthetically s*** was just dope asf.
Gen 8
PS4. This was my least favorite gaming generation personally (mostly because I didn’t really spend a lot of time gaming since I was trying to figure out adulting but PS4 definitely had some all time great games with SM1, GOW2018, TLOU2, RDR2 etc
Gen 9
PS5 all day. Game pass offers a great deal but ps5 has the great games man. I’ve beaten over 20 games since I’ve had it and started about 3 times as much. Really love this console, up there with PS1 Dreamcast and 360 as my all time favorites
3rd 4th and 5th gen is all Nintendo for me. NES - Super NES - N64 is a crazy run.
6th gen it starts getting interesting. Personally it’s the GameCube for me but I was in like elementary- beginning of middle school so Nintendo games were my s*** still. Ps2 had hits like gta SA though.
7th PS3, free online was the seller for me but halo 3 was insane value for sure made me wish I had a 360.
And it’s been PlayStation ever since, 4&5 are solid consoles but between me getting older and the industry changing I feel like there’s some magic that’s lost these days
I wasn't spoiled so I only had one console per gen until I got a job and could buy them myself
Not counting DS and GBA. DS was goated tho.
So PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5 basically.

Not the biggest Nintendo guy but much respect to the Nintendo run from SNES to N64 to game cube s*** was legendary
ive played nes as emulation, genesis at a friends house and the og Atari at my grandma's - but for consoles/gens i truly experienced:
Snes - my dad owned this console we grew up with it so it was always around
N64 - nostalgic classic my older brother got so it was always around (im the second oldest so also got to play all the m rated game of my older brother in every gen from xbox/ps2/n64/ps1 etc. that allowed me to experience a lot since i have an older brother of some years and younger siblings as well)
OGXbox - my own actual gen and the console that made me love and think deeper about games
PS3 - the gen that made dropout out of gaming towards the middleish end, has really high highs but most of it is mid & even worst in retrospect, the era i go back to the least
PS4 - might be my favorite console of all time so far, its at least top 3 & the generation is full of nothing but bangers, only downside is the major big 3 3rd parties that had their head up their ass the whole gen called Ubisoft, Activision & Ea but outside of them trash its A1
Switch so far - PS5 is worst console gen so far and a waste with barely any games, hopefully that changes this year or next year due to them supposedly finally cutting cross gen support
HMs: PSP & Quest 2 VR
I also have a decent gaming collection as an adult from Snes to last gen I have every system and console from Snes including handhelds (and Sreamcast + Wii u) besides PSVita, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn & XSeries/PS5. I will get a "next gen" console when they finally have actual exclusives/their gen games and stop halfassing everything. For now im PC.
I would love to get a Saturn at some point but its good games are ridiculously expensive so no point to actually get one unfortunately, Ive always been super curious about it and it sucks also emulation is difficult as hell for it just like OgXbox & PS3. No way to really really experience it sadly.
Gen 4: Tie between the Genesis and SNES
Gen 5: PlayStation
Gen 6: Tie between the PS2 and Dreamcast
Gen 7: Don't really have a favorite here
Gen 8: Missed most of the generation
Gen 9: PS5 so far
n64
ps2 (neck n neck with gamecube though)
360
dont really care for ps4/ps5 or xbox one/series x so pc
GBA & DS for honorary mention
