Drake off sheer volume but Kendrick has a better batting average

Off cheer volume? If you add that caveat then he doesn't make the best

Drakes last great (keyword grewt) album was NWTS

  • May 16, 2021

Kendrick but I listen to more and prefer drake

  • May 16, 2021

Legit, last time any of the big 3 dropped music worth listening to was DAMN

  • The gap between Kendrick and Drake in quality is as large as the gap between them commercially.

    Kendrick obviously overall

Dude hasn't missed yet. Drake and Cole both have album wise.

Kendrick has the worst features out of all 3. That drops him down a peg.

But his albums are always great.

PLUS, it’s kinda an exaggeration to say Kendrick never has good features. He’s had plenty over the years, it’s just not his strong suit compared to his own work.

Only Drake himself is capable of making quality albums.

But it still knocks him down a peg because out of all 3 of them, Kendrick is the worst at features and those also matter. Good rap albums can't be the only criteria to be the #1 guy. It's a whole bunch of things that add up.

Out of the 3 of them, Kendrick has been the most consistent with quality releases. I'll give Kendrick 4/4 with his commercial releases starting from Section.80 - DAMN. (not counting untitled unmastered) but Drake also has 4 great projects in the same time frame (Take Care, Nothing Was the Same, IYRTITL and Views).

He might miss more than Kendrick but that's only because Kendrick isn't as active/consistent as he is.

As commercial as Drake is, he has more classics than Cole. Is the most acclaimed out of all 3 of them after Kendrick. Has the best features/guest appearances out of all 3 of them and is the most dominant hitmaker in rap history.

Drake checks EVERY BOX and he's the only one who does that. Kendrick's only true strength in these arguments are his albums but Drake has just as many great albums as him (of course, none of them are nearly as acclaimed, but they've aged well and are respected by fans/culture at large).

Lastly, there's the argument of CONSISTENCY. Drake outworked Kendrick and Cole throughout the last decade and has already done the same so far this decade. I think all those things put him at #1 imo. You can't be the #1 guy if you only come out of the shadows once every 4 years when there's another guy dominating when you're gone and even when you're around.

Drake is the greatest musician of all time. Not just rapper currently. He’s the bestest, even above Mozart & Bach.

If we're keeping it a buck, Drake is really the only one who checks every single box. That, along with his consistency/success gives him the #1 spot.

    Drake has:
Classic mixtapes (So Far Gone, IYRTITL).
Classic albums (Take Care, Nothing Was the Same, Views).
Classic loosies, singles, features, remixes (Too many to count).
Classic tours (Club Paradise tour and the Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour, debate with your drunk uncle).

He also the most consistent, the most successful and the most dominant and has been that way since 2009.

Once you consider all those factors, an answer to this age-old question emerges.

I'll say this though. Anyway you look at it, the worst Kendrick can ever be is #2. Cole might be lower than #3 now and he can drop even lower. He's the only one with that risk. Drake and Kendrick have done enough great things enough times to forever solidify their spots, even if they drop a dud here or there. I honestly can't say the same for Cole even though I love his music.

That's true he does everything and that's still not enough for some people. It just goes to show how taste can vary from person to person and this discussion truly is subjective. You summed it up great though in your posts.

Love Drake but the quality just hasn’t been there in 5+ years

I'm taking Drake after IYRTITL over Sean after DSP 100 times over

Drake gestapo out in full force ITT

The man is 34 rapping about his intramural basketball league. Been teasing an album that might or might not exist off a dusty ass single. Will never drop a classic record. You don't have to defend him. Your trauma is valid. It's okay.
