What was wrong with my post brother I was just answering the man’s question
he talking bout the emojis lol
Lupe and Jay Electronica were suppose to and could have been what Kendrick is and did
Jay was never going to be at a commercial level like Kendrick, his subject matter and sound would have never been accepted in the mainstream.
His career could have been similar to Doom if he was active.
From an archetypical standpoint Lupe was supposed to be the socially conscious rapper with mass appeal, which is sort of an anomaly in hip hop pop culture and Kendrick is that for us today. Kendrick is just more refined and curated. But Lupe was that guy back in the day. There weren’t a lot of new rappers that put out concept albums on the mainstream like Lupe was.
I get the correlation
I might make a video on how Wale was supposed to be the premiere rapper of the blog era before Drake came. The original blog era big 3 was Cudi Wale Lupe then Drake came

Wale was supposed to be the chosen one
The sentiment I remember:
He basically stated Palestinians resisting occupation and colonization are stupid because they are at a disadvantage in terms of resources.
He recommended basically giving up due to this and just succumb to marginalization rather than resist and fight against it because it’s futile.
Basically “why complain when you’re killed or your land is taken? When you resist you know you’re just going to be killed for it/punished further. So it doesn’t work.”
yh lupe can f*** himself with a 10 foot pole
Wale was supposed to be the chosen one
His biggest mistake was signing with Maybach Music. Should’ve signed with Jay Z or stayed with Mark Ronson.
He had the backpack/hipster/international markets on lock.
When he sifted into the spoken word thing he lost his core fan base.
Surprised people don’t talk about it
He just got his timing wrong.
Lupe was blackballed supporting Palestine calling Obama a terrorist back in 2011.

I guess it's damn near ancient history now so most people forgot unfortunately
everything i heard about this has been hearsay
what did they change his mind on?
They changed his mind on the ayatollah
this conversation is so contrived. if you really know both of these artist and the history of who they both were before the music AND THEN really factor in and follow their music careers and the nuances and details of their journeys you would know that they were never the same nor ever had the same trajectory. Lupe was always going to be Lupe and Kendrick was always going to be Kendrick. cut this mess out
Jokes aside, the only reason ppl tried to compare these two is because of their fanbases.
The only similarity is “oh they conscious” and then it stops. They not really that similar like that.
But Lupe (because man is Mr. Yap, prolly his worst attribute as someone that was a fan since revenge of the nerds) fanning the flames while Dot says nothing while still showing respect for this nigga, didnt help the “oMg kEnDriCk iS wHeRe LuPe ShOuLd Be!” statements.
Lupe online lowkey be like Nicki Minaj if Nicki had a PhD and took her meds.

I follow Lupe pretty closely. He’s made it public that he has friends that are IDF and that they’ve changed his mind on the subject

People can't read or listen but I'll be honest.
The amount of times I responded to a thread title without reading the OP or looking at the video in the OP is a lot so
I've done it too

That's his biggest L take to me personally. But he just seems tapped out and defeated.
