Kendrick is just more refined and curated. But Lupe was that guy back in the day. There weren’t a lot of new rappers that put out concept albums on the mainstream like Lupe was.

He recommended basically giving up due to this and just succumb to marginalization rather than resist and fight against it because it’s futile.
