Stay away from mainstream trap and you’ll realize there’s actually a lot of dope unique stuff releasing

People always say this but this is kind of a bad thing. When the mainstream section of a music genre is full of uninspired, homogeneous artists the public starts to lose interest and it's popularity starts to die. You gotta remember that Hip-Hop is apart of black culture and white america (and the rest of the world) will drop it as soon as it can find a suitable replacement.

Did you grow up listening to hip hop or did you have to find out about it yourself?

How can hip hop and rap die when DaBaby is dropping a deluxe version of his album tomorrow night?

how old are you, been feeling the same for the past 1-2 years and i assume its cause im getting older and im slowly drifting away from the main target audience

been listening to a lot of hiphop from early 10's lately

but overall i really lost interest in keeping up with music and new releases/finding new artists

    Drake out now

  • A genre can only last so long at the top, we are witnessing the peak reign of hip hop, by the end of the decade a new genre from a combination of rock and hip hop will be beginning its stages of popularity and domination, watch

I think from now on Rock & Roll and Hip Hop are going to be switching places as the most popular genre (ofc when I mention these 2 genres, this includes all their sub-genres and variations)

Under capitalism when things get popular and are proven to be profitable they become more and more homogenized, middle aiming and as a result watered down

    Inevitable
It will have a rebirth but we’re in prime commercialization
Look at the early 2000s v the late 2000s
Early 2000s is when rap became dominant and the late 2000s is when it fell of quality wise significantly
Then it repeated in the 10s

I agree with that too. Part of the issue is streaming tbh. It’s made people’s attention spans even shorter and now most people just want short instant gratification songs that sound exactly like whatever they’re already used to hearing. Which is why mainstream trap is so homogenous. There’s a set formula perfectly designed to rack up the streams and so most artists don’t even have to really try
