Honestly haven’t seen anyone posting this song anymore the last week, finally coming and going
I don't think you can start this timeline with "people started being ironic". That's not a serious way to look at history. Why were people being ironic? What social and political context made that culture so attractive to young people? Young people who are always stupid and never wield any power and are constantly replaced by new young people.
And I'm not sure how much better the nihilism of rap music writ large was than the ironic pockets inside of it. You weren't listening to Immortal Technique and Lowkey were you? Which major artists were supposed to innoculate their listeners against the future? Does that even sound feasible?
I mean it's always been sort of a defense mechanism or "shield" because being enthusiastic/earnest/sincere about s*** wasn't seen as cool. And that largely came about from the sarcasm epidemic of the early 2000s brought on by Gen X, aka "The Simpsons" generation. The Internet poured gasoline on the dynamic, trolling was formed, and that gave birth to the meta irony hellscape of today
Counterpoint: you is a b**** ass nigga
(Mano on the left)
Counterpoint: it should be legal to open hand slap certain type of people that perpetuate certain slappable actions
Counterpoint: look at the folk yall give authority over music they aint grow up on nor could actually relate to nor understand why some AI bullshit isnt some “cannon fodder” for a “tehee” conversation and shoulda been condemned FROM DAY 1. Not in f***ing hindsight after it already hit the charts
Counterpoint: you is a b**** ass nigga.

Just sums up everything wrong with this guy and a lot of pitchfork writers’ rap reviews in general. They will dig so deep to make some profound statement about absolute bullshit music lol.
