Yes, you do not have to go to college to be successful financially.

But, seeing as how this article is written, it seems that it's really "attacking" the men who just aren't doing anything in their lives. No college, no trade school, no job. And they are saying there is starting to become a growing number of those kinda men, who just blame everything and everybody else for their problems instead of taking a look in the mirror.

I started in a manual labor position (machinist) and utilized every opportunity I could grasp to work my way into an office position where I make a very comfortable salary for my age while avoiding any college debt.
