How on gods f***ing earth do you cram in Nibel, Wutai, Aerith Death, Weapons etc etc etc into 3 parts.
Rebirth has to go waaaay beyond Aerith death
It’s going to be really interesting to see how Square handles this.
If Rebirth is covering the second act of VII like Remake covered the first act, then it has to span everything from the Nibelheim flashback to the Northern Crater as that’s when the main tension (“Can the party stop Sephiroth from obtaining the Black Materia and casting Meteor?”) is resolved.
But since the party killed fate or whatever at the end of Remake and Aerith and Sephiroth get to play 3D chess with each other since they both have a copy of the script for the original VII, it does free Square to rearrange and remix sequences of the narrative to make everything fit in to Rebirth without exceeding development constraints.

Aerith isn’t dying and Zack is still alive I’m going for now seeing as OF FF7 isn’t canon anymore.
It’s actually fairly exciting, we all know f*** all. I hope Nomura goes mental, but not KH mental

I think from here it's just gonna vastly stray from the original's events. Major sequences are probably gonna be left out which I think they've been trying to convey from the end of remake
starting Intergrade tonight missed it on release, i got the ending kinda spoiled but I’m still very excited
Playing FFX right now and the girl you meet at the beginning I hope doesn't join the party, her outfit is awful, zero drip

Or they might move some things around so that Part 3 doesn’t come out as super anemic as it would be if they were to have done a straight remake.

I liked Remake enough, but personally felt like it dragged at some points and had too many cliche AAA walking moments. Also the side quests were largely ass.
As an aside, the Tifa platforming bit in Shinra Tower was legitimately awful.
Honestly the most exciting thing about this, is that Nomura isn’t the lead on the project.

I’m not too worried about Remake ending up like Kingdom Hearts. Storytelling in Kingdom Hearts feels hollow because the characters are all so bland and shallow and boring and uninteresting and the narrative ultimately goes nowhere meaningful.
The characterisation in Remake is stellar on the other hand, and it remains to be seen if this remade direction Square is taking with VII’s narrative will lead to any meaningful pay-off (but it’s already more interesting than the past twenty Kingdom Hearts games).

The main thing I had in mind was moving something like Corel Prison to Part 3. While that sequence is important to Barret’s character, it’s not critical to the plot so it could easily be rearranged without harming the narrative.

It’s so stupid that they did it like this. All they had to do was make a 1 to 1 remake

Don’t think I have time to do a full playthrough, are side quests necessary?

I agree but it’s too late. Time travel ghosts and stalker Sephiroth and weird timeline s***. At this point id rather they just go completely off the deepend.

Not really.
