Speaking of gil...it's been noticeably scarce in this game so far. I know there's a Gil Materia (which im assuming gives you more gil from battle), but i wasnt expecting to barely be buying anything in this game. Other than new weps/armor and the new materias, i really only buy the sale items at the vending machines.
I also hate how even with Item Materia and the accessory that improves healing items, regular Potions are pretty much useless unless you wanna sit there for 10 mins after a battle using them one by one to heal characters... I have 87 of these things and only 15 Hi's and 10 Megas. Why cant they just let use them from the Inventory in yhe Party Screen like other rpgs so it doesnt take as long??
the aiming system was pissing me off so i just said f*** it and only shot the middle column
Ah, were you using the right stick to try and aim? I found it worked flawlessly if i just looked up at the wall, started shooting, and only used the left stick to walk along the path. Using the right stick just moved the camera and made Barrett turn around
Johnny: "Bro! It's good to see you guys."
Cloud: "I told you to stop calling me that"
Johnny: "Bro, I'm in need of your expertise."

This is why I enjoyed the side quests lol
Well... I seem to agree what the person states..
It's different give you that. Going to piss some off.
But I do believe this won't follow the OG game at all
i think it'll follow all the broad strokes of the original with some goofy kingdom hearts f***ery thrown in
Tifa is so f***ing good in battle. Been using her the most recently.
But after that Shinra Test Facility sequence, I'm bout to ball tf out at the next Moogle vendor i see
cloud, tifa and barret are all so fun and different to play in fights. i'm switching between them all constantly. vincent's my dude, they better not f*** up his transformations. and mauling people as red xiii

Yeah for the first few chapters i wasnt keen on switching much yet, but since then ive been doing it a lot in battle too.
And Tifa tends to get a little more of my time than the others cause her ridiculous stagger% combos and high mag atk, especially when using Refocus
Don't really care for using Barret much tho. He's GOAT as a healing mule/tank with Provoke tho. I really loved the Cloud/Tifa/Aerith trio chapters tbh. That team was so killer and i loved using everyone
This is why I enjoyed the side quests lol
Do a lot of people not like the side quests or something? I enjoy them a good bit. Even though a lot of them follow the same formulas, the combat is so much fun idc, and the rewards are usually great
Also, Chi Trap is a ridiculous ability that tends to just absolutely wreck whatever I'm fighting, esp if it's staggered already.

I dont mind them but I did notice I missed quite a few on my run through NG+
Also regarding music I'm not crazy about the boss theme in this one. I wish it was more true to the original cause it was so f***ing good. The soundtrack overall needed more of that Uematsu guitar/percussion. It sounded so gritty whereas this is all epic orchestras and s***.
Like we're in a f***ing sewer fighting mutated monsters dude, it's gotta sound dirty. Save the John Williams for Sephiroth.

Yeah most of the music is take it or leave it for me. It's not bad or anything, just a lot of the songs so far haven't grabbed my attention as something special.
But the reworked Aerith theme is beautiful, and like i said above that techno expressway jam is killer. Also, the Hip Hop Chocobo and Electric de Chocobo music from the jukebox collection are nice (but ive always loved the series' various mixes of the chocobo theme anyway haha)
The stairs remind me of this from the original (which is sadly cut for reasons you know why)

yo

Yeah the new Aeris theme is great. And I didn't mean to sound like I hated the whole thing, cause there's definitely some good reworks in there. Some nice new music too. Like that little bit where you're on the motorcycle with Jessie.

lmao i gotta try the stairs next time

Also meant to say that im in the chapter where you get to revisit all the places and do various other sidequests — im pretty sure i didnt miss any on the first visits to these places, cause im usually pretty OCD about leaving no stone unturned in RPG towns i visit haha. I mightve missed something in the Sect 7 Slums with Cloud at the start, but im not sure.
All i know is ive already done a ton of sidequests before getting to this "revisit" chapter where there's new ones to do.
Btw, is Fat Chocobo a worthwhile summon at all? Ive had him for min but havent used him. The others so far are all pretty great, but FC's info says he doesnt have any abilities and just does damage

He does some decent damage, tbh I just used him cause it was funny lol
As for the sidequests with NG+ you can choose to revisit any chapter you want to get anything you missed so I wouldn't fret over it too much

How f***ing great was that Cloud dance game tho? Visuals were f***ing wild, and loved how difficult but fun it was
Just won the first pullups with Tifa and and dude said Tifa should join him for a performance soon, so if there's another dance sequence then i'm so down

the whole game's hitting me in the feels tbh, it's like my childhood coming back to life. it's awesome.
they probably won't remake 8 and 9 cause they weren't as iconic as 7 but i'd love it if they did.

If the made X-2 and the 13 trilogy, they better f***ing remake 8 and 9
They also totally remade 3 and 4 a while back for mobile/DS remember? Those arent as iconic as 6 or 7 either, so maybe theres hope

i agree 100% but square has gotten weird over the years. just look at kingdom hearts.
also tag me when you're ready to vent about the ending lol

I was gonna ask earlier lol: is the ending really changed as much as people have been making it seem?
I mean the whole story in the remake definitely has a different beat to it, but everything so far (other than the obvious character development depth) hasn't really done anything crazy that goes in a totally diff direction than the OG, just rearranged stuff a bit and presented in a diff way. Like the way they chose not to do the long Seph and Cloud on a mission flashback like the OG one didn't really bother me much at all, and Cloud's headaches/visions in this remake seem to be good ways to implement that story and mystery with how the structured the rest of the remake

i think they've done all the characters very well, and i'm fine with some rearrangements like you mentioned. they've got a better medium now with more freedom so that's cool.. but yeah, towards the end you'll see what i'm talking about.
