Just finished first listen and this did not feel like a 48 minute mixtape at all, if anything it felt shorter.
Exceeded my expectations, this felt like a natural progression from the heavy emotional anchor of magdalene, the songs are fun, exciting, punchy and different for twigs. Almost like how dev dropped Angel's Pulse after the heavyweight that was Negro Swan.
"I'm still that mysterious b****" is my favorite line on the whole album
Totally agree - I think this was a brilliant concept and a natural artistic progression. It is a lot more accessible and conceptually relaxing yet maintains that avant grade / multidimensional, ethereal Twigs sound that can go 0-100 at anytime.
The vocals are crisp, production is cinematic/innovative and the writing is catchy whilst remaining emotional.
Not a fan of all the skits & interlude vocals but this seemed like an therapeutic project for her after the devastating Magdalene so it is what it is.
In reference to the earlier comment saying twigs doesnt like being called rnb (which makes sense, her music doesnt seem that way to me), what’s the best way to describe her genre? Seems like she kinda does her own stuff, i havent found much music that reminds me too much of hers even after delving into the discographies of some of her collaborators

definitely a therapeutic project, the skits annoyed me a little too like the one before meta angel should be completely separate
I've slightly got an appreciation for them though if I consider the context in which the some of the songs were made (during lockdown)
damn both her and mitski were finna quit music

FKA Twigs makes Alternative pop music. Check out XCX, SOPHIE (RIP), and Arca for mainstream similarities. A lot of artists make music like her in the underground pop realm.
I should smack myself for thinking Twigs was about to give us half assed mid. There was real work put into every song here
