What’s your beef with Twin Peaks
You know I dont like any person that or piece of art that acts like its the end all be all of art.
I had one friend like that with twin peaks that basically acted like every piece of media was inspirted by twin peaks or wasnt as good at twin peaks at everything
also musically him in the twin peaks style is an entirely different genre that is less dancey, less upbeat, less even communicative than his past
it genuinely is "mysterious music"
I ironically think this sounds better than Garmonborzia and is closer to his odd style of music
@rhinocerosbeetle
2nd one is my ringtone
Yeah supposedly the daybreak and chalet tones were made by him according to his ig story
Wtf had no idea
When it’s revealed that Flylo is doing the score for Twin Peaks season 4
I mean that dream kind of died since Lynch can't leave the house anymore, all those cigs did eventually catch up w him and ruined his health

his fanbase pains me

O ok so it seems like your beef has more to do with how Twin Peaks fans feel about the show, rather than the show itself . And David Lynch def is a director who doesn’t act all pretentious like he’s the superior to everyone else
(Also to be fair Twin Peaks is objectively very influential to TV dramas that came after it, it changed the TV industry. Even David Chase said TP is a blueprint for tv dramas)
It doesn’t seem like it now because it’s seen as a cult classic. But Twin Peaks was MASSIVE when it premiered, there was nothing like it at the time

I dont think any music artist should make multiple years around their career so entrenched in one piece of media
no matter how influential
Flamagra twin peaks influence in many songs and now this
you don't think its fair that some fans miss when Flying Lotus had his own creative vision?

Thats great its now 2024
I love Holy Mountain to death
it was perfect for the creation of MBDTF
but I like when artist do Eras and this all feels like twin peaks era and begins to for many of us feel samey

People just miss what made flylo, flylo. Influence is fine but, enough. Lmao

nah you're kind of imposing a whole simplistic theory here, Flylo's music has been massively influenced by Lynch from the beginning, it's only that around Flamagra (and after Lynch was done w TP) he was finally able to make a collab happen
"I've been trying to get David Lynch for like 11, 12 years to do something with me, asking a friend of a friend. "Oh, yeah, he told me he loves you but he's really busy. He's on Twin Peaks, he's doing a billion things."
As soon as Twin Peaks The Return was over, I was like, "I'm getting on it." It was just one of those things. I made it a mission to make it happen."

I mean tbf that's just cause they v successfully made BDS out to be crazy extremist ppl and "bullies"... tbh I could def see thom yorke influencing flylo's perception of that whole situation a lot...
pitchfork.com/news/radioheads-thom-yorke-condemned-by-pro-palestine-groups
I know that for me, being German and mostly out of touch w politics but up to date w music talk that controversy was the first time I was rly challenged to think about Israel, I only ever heard of it in supportive terms until then and that there's "a very difficult and complicated" conflict, barely even learned anything about Palestine at all (always the "other") and only heard that BDS is probably antisemitic etc, and when all that was covered by the media initially even I was swayed to think Thom probably holds a liberal position on it since he's generally very politically incisive, but yh
that whole naive/ propagandized view of it was only complicated when I met my now partner who's Irish and been to Palestine herself. was def rly shocking just how successfully they PR polished their image. I feel like only since last year there's been a turning point where a majority realizes how insane the situation is, but there's still a lot of ppl, especially this apolitical artist type like Flylo who'd be late to wake up to it
Need album news tbh
he too busy researching how much money we gave to terrorist organizations
bro dropped this said nothing
no album announcement nothing
it's a mid track too
