I just browsed his subreddit and there’s 2 different threads b****ing and moaning about him using ai and not expecting an artist of his caliber to go that route. I might be giving him too much credit because he’s one of my favorite artists, but who tf actually cares about him using ai for a 30 second promo of what’s basically a surprise ep? I could see if the entire album art was just ai slop but it’s one promo vid for instagram, I don’t think there was anything offensive about his use of it. Same with the erykah badu alchemist video, I’m really having a hard time understanding what the big deal is

imo most people would be okay with artists legitimately using ai as a tool in their process and some do with no issue.
there are plenty of artists using ai for random effects in their videos catching 0 flack.
with flylo and alc they're just letting slop pour out of a machine. doesn't matter what its for its 0 effort prompted slop.

I just think it’s kind of a slippery slope of laziness and effortless, thoughtless, algorithmically spewed out content. Sure today we can go through the motions of whittling down the importance & gravity of a music video or an album teaser being ai generated, but for what? Flylo had some of the best visuals in the game, Erykah had some of the most iconic music videos of those decades. For Flylo to be dropping ai visuals, and Erykah to be dropping ai music videos, it feels like an exhausting routine of expecting less and getting less from artists who once put out extremely iconic, highly regarded stuff.

Was gonna point that out too, that with the flylo and erykah examples, both uses of low quality ai generated visual media correlated lower quality music for both of them, and overall low effort across the board.
BUT I can conceive of someone who has high quality music using ai art for visuals. Don’t have an example off the top of my head
but that’s a conceivable and possible thing.
