every irishmen ive talked to is unabashedly racist towards ur people. says ur prone to violence and have a patent disregard for the value of life. they say when news breaks that you're in town they batten down the doors of the bars and refuse service. i need ur side of the story 🎤

this is the racism we experience, sadly. it is extremely common place. for example, i was refused a place in school when i was 5 and was not able to attend to school until i was 11. i went into secondary school being unable to read and write and treated as a special case. like, were legit treating me as a spastic with special needs because they REFUSED me a place in school when i was 5. they refused to teach me how to read and write and called me an idiot when i tried my best when i was 11.

this was all commonplace before we were given ethnic minority status in 2010. it was literally completely legal to discriminate against us in the UK until then. i am not too familiar with the situation in ireland but i believe the irish refuse to give travelers the same rights we get in the UK.

this is all relevant to your question because you are asking me why we are scum. we have been treated like scum for centuries. you treat us like scum, deny us housing, education, and basic human rights. you do this and wonder why we are illiterate. you lock us up, call us pikeys and wonder why we are hostile. you spit at us in the street and wonder why we grow up to hate you.

we are still ignored to this day. we have the lowest lifespan, highest prison rates, and lowest literacy rate. anti traveller sentiment is the highest and most common form of racism in europe. nobody will ever tell you this though. we are an ignored minority that the vast majority of people hate us and think we are scum.

we are close to romani people and class them as our brothers and sisters. we fight together for a more peaceful world for our people.
