Breaking shocking news tho: Man who is born before a time says music in that time is not as good as his music before that time
HE'S RIGHT.
SINCE MBDTF THERE'S NO ALBUM PROJECT THAT DESERVES TO BE IN TOP 10
There’s a few lol

I’m a big twisted fantasy fan, it began my love of music, but man is it overrated. Maybe it’s because I’ve overplayed it but plenty of albums fresher, more beautiful, and more interesting. It legitimately sounds dated in a lot of it’s textures and that’s no knock to it. That is inevitable over time. But man there has been incredible albums after that that have topped it.
I mean they aren’t wrong give a album time before y’all throw that classic top 10 s*** around lol
This is facts, as consumers we get too caught up in the moment and let the hype cloud our judgment. Calling every album classic, top 10 or one of the goat just water down the meaning behind the terms. I say we should give albums at minimum a year before it enter the classic talk. I know some people may feel like that’s too short of a time but with how fast things move with streaming if an album is still making waves and have impact a year later I do think it deserves to at the least be in the convo.
ONE THOUSAND PERCENT. Hov is my goat also but it is insane how much the podcasters d***ride him. Lowkey in particular is the ultimate d*** rider. I follow him on Twitter and literally everyday this guy will try to start up some debate about his discography. Lmao bruh wrap it up already let’s move on
they be d*** sucking crazy
i think joe budden said hov was their malcolm x and martin luther king
MBDTF gotta be one of the most overrated albums of all time
Drake is taking the top 3 spots in that convo
I think people get too caught up in relevance and forget that 60% of relevance has to do with marketing and money. Do you really want to base your musical opinion on what is being pushed by a label? Or a magazine? Why does something have to be “relevant” to be amazing? A lot of “irrelevant” artists are making incredible groundbreaking work and it’s cast aside, because it’s not played on, kiss FM? Because, labels? And money? Sounds silly to me. Just listen to music you like and rank it based on how much you like it, nothing else should matter.
Top 10? Outside of GKMC and maybe Take Care (both of which I haven’t listened to in a minute so idk) he’s not really wrong unless y’all can start naming hella albums.
Although yes, this is dramatic hyperbole and exaggeration to say that music quality has declined and in a singles/streaming/you flopped era people don’t try to make complete albums anymore. If I find the thread made about Beyoncé when she said this I doubt the thread has the same reactions as this one
If you can remember the album landscape before and after like 2014-2017 way less emphasis was placed on making a classic album. In retrospect it’s hard to think what caused the shift even tho IYRTITL (album/mixtape difference no longer matters in streaming era) and the fizzling out of all the “traditional” rap heirs in favor of niggas like Carti and Uzi

People joke about this but- him and Kanye are basically Malcolm and MLK but for black capitalism @Scratchin_Bandit

It’s the apex of Kanye’s arc because of the Taylor s*** along with sonically not having many flaws
It’s the album that put Ye over the top but in retrospect it negatively affected Ye himself IMO bc after that and it’s leftovers creating WTT he never felt like he had to try to make a classic album again.

Yeah that’s true. Although I think Yeezus is a classic a totally different reason. I think cruel summer could have been a classic with some of those film exclusive tracks and if it had less singles.
Kids See Ghosts is pretty consistently great but people don’t think of it as a classic because of its length.
Donda has the opposite problem. Cut about half of it and you got yourself a classic album.
I think it’s definitely harmed his music output but it’s also helped it, He learned a lot of lessons from that album and you can hear how he incorporates aspects of it in his newer albums. Every time he seems so close to another classic, he does something really stupid because he feels it’s too “easy” and predictable to make a classic so he always does something dumb like make the album 30 tracks long with part 2s and songs with a 10 second Kanye part
Personally I think Mr Morale is the most consistently exciting album I’ve heard maybe since MBDTF

Facts, the internet is a curse when it comes to that s*** they’ll call a brand new album trash in the first 5 mins of release..and a 2 day released album classic lmaoo
