He spent summers in Memphis with his father and the rest of the year in Toronto with his mother from when his parents got divorced till just about when he became a teenager so there is nothing fake or untrue about that line. He has a lot of family out in Memphis that he's still close to.

If I told you “I was born in Toronto but raised in Memphis” you would definitely think I spent more than some summers there.
