idk how his times compare to pierre, but i'd say from the eye test he's been performing about how you'd expect from an average rookie, not horrible but not really anything special. certainly not bad enough to be dropped this early. the problem for doohan though is that he needed to show something special pretty quickly because alpine dropped a few million to get colapinto from williams, and they didn't do that just to have him sit in the garage and do sim work. colapinto has a lot of hype, passionate fans and big sponsors and doohan just isn't doing enough to compensate for that
