The Weeknd clears on all fronts and i’m not even joking

In terms of pure artistry The Weeknd stands alone

We only really used to compare them because they were two guys, coming out around the same time, who were nominally in r&b but really had their own sounds. By the time Blonde and Starboy came out in 2016 I’d say there was no point considering them comparable or even r&b artists. Also The Weeknd has kept a consistent album cycle and Frank ocean has not dropped an album in seven years. We’ve gotten maybe ten songs and a handful of features in that time frame. Weeknd “won,” but they’re not even really in the same league anymore.

Frank never was gonna be a MJ or prince cause of his reclusiveness and lack of theatrics. He more in the vein of a Stevie wonder/ Marvin Gaye

    quality>quantity
Both great artists, but I prefer Frank's catalog

The Weeknd makes music for normies that spend their disposable income on Zara. While Frank's for sadboys that pretend to read philosophy

  • Apr 18, 2023

They’re in separate lanes. Frank isn’t trying to be the hottest popstar out

  • Apr 18, 2023

dont wanna compare any of them with any of them or anyone else for that matter

cant speak for Weeknd but Frank left those people in 2016 and on reddit, he's lost a lot of that crowd over the past few years

He’s incredibly talented but his music just doesn’t resonate for me

Very original thread, up there with deciding who is really in the Big 3

It's not like we had a vz for this or anything
