Your art will get critiqued,whether its good or bad,just like the saying goes, "accept the good with the bad" if we can't as fans point out the blatantly bad but only accept the good,thats some worship s***.
And Frank Ocean is definitely one of the greatest artist of the 21st century.

I don't really get the "half-assed it" thing. He did incredible (and intricate) new renditions of his old songs with a world class band, he brought out a DJ to do a set spinning some of his best records as a little intermission, he brought out a lil kid to play a young version of himself... etc etc. It was objectively a very dense performance and not at all vapid or half-assed. Not to mention he tried to have a crazy ass ice rink thing with 100 ice skaters but for whatever reason that didn't work out. Who knows if it really was an injury, or maybe the f***in ice literally did melt or maybe he just decided last minute that it was corny... who knows, but the intent was there with the set which looked beautiful anyways
You could definitely say it was self-indulgent of him considering most festival-goers just want to sing along to their favorite artists songs, but it definitely wasn't half-assed. If he did what any other artist did, there would probably be no backlash lol.
