that entire verse is frank reflecting on his life post katrina, the first portion highlights distrust with friends and relatives “although you beaucoup family, nobody being honest with you” and then he says he knows his car better than most people bc he’s building it himself - then goes back and highlights distrust again with the “break the law again” line

Some of my wording was meant to be a little bit silly, I was having fun with the genius style
But in that specific line; why is he bringing up the car? No reason? Or Because it’s handmade, he knows it better than most people, and even if he didn’t, he wouldn’t trust anyone else to work on the car (I don’t trust em anyway). By the time we get to “you can’t break the law with them” I’ll concede that we’re probably fully back to the original, general mistrust. But this is how stream of consciousness works, the meanings and associations can layer over each other. My “theory” actually ain’t that far fetched, all I’m suggesting is that the two lines “transportation handmade, and I know it better than most people… I don’t trust em anyway..” are connected and flow as one thought before moving on
