You know tonight's got me thinking, I think Gibbs is on the verge of something big. Just a hunch I have. His career has just been on a straight upward trajectory post prison.
And coming off the grammy snub, makes me think his next s*** might be a bit more commercial, but still unmistakably Gibbs. Like Shadow of a Doubt on steroids. 4 thangs been pretty successful too
Honestly he needs to link up w a good commercial producer
Madlib obviously amazing but him and alchemist aren’t exactly conducive to commercial success
And coming off the grammy snub
He got snubbed? News to me
I'm starting a dialogue
I lowkey feel like there's parallels between thug and gibbs trajectory. both respected by the underground and lauded by critics for years, incredible album runs, neither ever missed. it just takes that one album.
he sounds best on madlib/alchemist production. him rapping over trap beats didnt do as much for his career
f*** going mainstream
people only say this type of s*** bc they think madlib's suddenly going to get his big shot lmfao

no lmfao i want these niggas to win but they shouldn't drop what they're doing and start chasing appeal from the masses
an explosion in the mainstream should be completely organic

I was agreeing w u
nas was always going to win that grammy, he was the safest blandest most obvious choice
Why does every artist we like have to ‘blow up’? Staying somewhat underground and maintaining an incredible & consistent catalogue for an artist is a way better feat than ‘blowing up’ and then declining and trying to recreate that original mainstream success. Obvi I want Gibbs to get the check, but if he’s making cash where he’s at I’m happy for the guy.
