Snoop Dogg the best example of this.
But it also serves to say that the it's going to be tough to do the same thing to rap that happened to rock because a lot of rappers start with the intentions to sell out.

Hip-hop is the most w****d out genre by far and it’s participants don’t seem to care.

Well it's the most popular genre of music.

When everyone is throwing dollars at you, you go for it.

    Confession:

I went to Target on the day of release to buy French Montana's debut album on CD.

I feel like “selling out” is only harmful when someone or something is being exploited

Who’s being hurt by French Montana promoting soda? Lol

Its not about it being "whored out" its about it being the most popular genre in America and probably the world, therefore it has the biggest market for capital investments...

If rock was the most popular genre, you'd see a bunch of rock artists in commercials and ads and brand deals as well.

They go where the money is fool

Because these brands need the culture and not the other way around. It’s given up too freely, just like ass, hence the term whoring out.

Is it given out too freely?

I guess that will depend on how much money they getting per Advertisment so we dont know if its freely

French Montana is a hustler period

Compare this to Kanye’s appearance in the McDonald’s ad which plays off who he is as an individual rather than his ability to make some catchy tune.

more like it's participants are historically marginalized and need to w**** themselves out for profit ???

i mean u can make the claim "they're rich already" but tpab has done wonders for explaining to cacs the fear of going broke after making it in the industry

which is a true story for so many black artists, i mean there's a whole show about it called unsung

a bit unfair to just say "it's participants don't seem to care" when it's a bit more complex then that lololol
