The idea of packaging two solo albums and dividing the group of outlast through the medium of the double disc is presented by the physical concept
The same occurred for MMBS, and it isn’t less valid because it’s a shorter album

Could you please elaborate further on how Mr Morale and The Big Steppers are two separate solo albums that divide Kendrick Lamar? Like how is it the same at all
The discs are actually pretty similar and certainly connected, it is nowhere near the hard contrast and division that SB/TLB is. It seems utterly insane to suggest that MMBS is “the same thing”. Forget length entirely, it’s not the same because it isn’t two separate albums by two separate artists. It’s not even two separate albums by the same artist. What the f*** is this comparison lol
There are step sound effects through both discs which cements the fact they are one connected work, not two separate ones. Not to mention similar skits and sonic themes throughout. And obviously the second disc and ending resolves the themes of the first.
On the other hand, as is obvious, The Love Below does not follow on any themes or threads of Speakerboxx lol it’s just completely it’s own thing. You really gonna say disc 2 of Morale is comparable to that?

The same physical concept actually was not executed for Morale and the Big Steppers: the CD version of the album is just one disc. So they weren’t even confident enough in that presentation to commit to it in the physical form.
Which just goes to show even more that Kendrick posting 2 CDs was cap: what we actually got was 1 CD.

But just the way he set it up as a double disc album in the promo made me think it would’ve been more substantial than it was. If we’re being real, 18 songs and about an hour long isn’t a double album in rap, and it was borderline false advertisement
S*** would fit on one disc. Literally 1 cd worth of music presented/advertised as two
It did fit on 1 disc, the CD release was just 1 CD haha
