VietbrahYeah one thing I’ve noticed is Drake loosies always get more love than album cuts not because they’re better but how they’re consumed. With one off tracks like this they come expectations free and have their own singular moment where people can live with that track specifically. Album cuts just as good like Race My Mind or F***ing Fans are lost within the discourse of the whole album and don’t have their own moment to stand on.
Race My Mind and F***ing Fans are nowhere close to this quality.
Always found those melodies annoying.
Neatly is just straight up better than the CLB tracks, the decision to leave it off is baffling.

Im definitely unbiased when it comes to drake and i just heard this for the first time. Its absolutely better than nearly everything off clb.
Also the pocket he was rapping in at certain points like that east african bar Ive never heard him like that, ever
If you’ve NEVER heard him rap like that, you need to listen to more Drake.

I think you’re correct with your general assertion that one-off loosies are received better than cuts on an actual album, but this song is just straight up better than those you mention. Bar maybe Pipe Down and N 2 Deep (first half)
