The Drake/Kendrick beef is the only thing keeping people from realizing the days of hip-hop as the dominant genre are over. Blogs are trying to drag this beef because no one cares about anything else in the genre. Drake and Kendrick will have exceptional numbers in 2025 and everyone else will continue to decline.
Hip hop blogs don't exist anymore lol

Whatever you call Complex, XXL, and now the surplus of hip hop podcasts. Joe Budden spent a segment breaking down a leaked voice note Drake sent to a thot. Hip hop is finished

I feel like those really aren't pulling any weight anymore though... I mean who is still looking at complex in 2024
Weeknd never surpassed the original trilogy. Nothing he has made since are creatively on the level of those 3 projects
This site enjoys the gossip threads more than music threads but doesn't want to admit it

Whether the blogs are relevant or not is another matter but this beef is single-handedly keeping the lights on for all of them

Those are good trolling threads but some of us really do just love music.
Without any sort of music I could not function on a day to day basis... WBU?

You're right. It's also kind of pathetic how the big 3 is still Kendrick, Cole, Drake and nobody in the new school is challenging it.
What the f*** happened
ScHoolboy Q dropped a better 5 year wait album than Kendrick Lamar
Blue Lips is such a good album lol
Been good just been living life, missed this place. Finally glad to have been able to come back and get some good news discussions going.
Also I actually disagree. Those are all great albums but Ultra 85 and College park (minus the skits) are fire too.
They’ve got good stuff but I just think the older stuff has less filler

I can agree there. It does feel like a 20 track long logic album is kind of.. pushing it

The business model is all f***ed up. New artists will have 200 million followers across all platforms, have several cameos in hit movies/tv shows, be plugged in to with all the Hollywood movers and shakers and sell 11k albums their first week. I also think an indirect effect of the internet/streaming is a lack of appreciation for art as a whole, but that’s harder to prove.
Logic's been on a run since he dropped No Pressure. I get that ktt will always dislike him and that's cool but I personally think he's so much better now after ditching Def Jam. His latest album ULTRA 85 is insane, might just be one of the best things he's ever dropped.
Carti is low-key just dropping duds at this point and doesn't know where to take his career.
People complain about how bad rap has gotten but don't care about searching for s*** they like (and yes I get how hard it can be)
Drake
Kendrick is going to absolutely bring out Wayne during the super bowl and people got no reason to be pissed about how he's not headlining it.
Country music really isn't bad at all. It's just super formulaic.
Kanye needs to go back to his era of Gospel and Sunday Service if he wants to drop something groundbreaking.
Female rap is overhated.
Uzi is washed up he needs to move and grow with his fan base. He keeps dropping stuff trying to recreate his 2016 stuff and it's not hitting because his fan base is no longer 17.
Born Sinner is J Cole's best work shout out @Aquilla
Rap and rock and roll mixes like Aerosmith & Run DMC or Beastie Boys have to make a comeback. S*** is hard.
Dej Loaf is extremely underrated.
Big Sean has never been corny. People just don't like punchline rap because they are too stupid to understand it.
Yung Lean, Lil B, Chief Keef, Riff Raff, Soulja Boy basically founded your favorite rapper. Stop writing them off as a joke or meme because they aren't traditional rappers. They pushed the boundaries to the extreme and perfected it.
What’s wrong with drake jackass lol
This was my fav off of ultra 85. This is what supermarket should have been to be honest. He's really not a bad singer at all, he just needs better mixing and to keep it simple. Honestly it kind of reminds me of some 2008-2014 indie rock/pop s***.

I got nothing against drake and actually praised NWTS as being a classic 10/10 album the other day. I just personally feel like I haven't been enjoying his output since 2016. He definitely needs to make more cohesive albums with a theme but I get that his overall output is to make pop rap that hits the charts which is fine.

The worst part of supermarket was the cringe and songwriting
Like lemon drop exists lol

One of the problem is labels treating artists like internet memes. The internet is an amazing tool but your artist on the label won't be taken seriously if they're only used as some "lyric of the week" type s***. It's like Lil Nas X, I think he's a good singer personally but he isn't taken seriously because of his internet presence.
