i don’t see the hype ‘round this song
It's one of those songs that are appreciated with the context. Post Taylor Swift incident, public opinion on Ye's ass (even Obama was on it), danger of being blacklisted
i don’t see the hype ‘round this song
it's supposedly a suicide note, or a ref track for one
he was still grieving his mom n the public was against him, he almost succumbed to the pressure

i don’t see the hype ‘round this song
a lot of the emotion just comes from the mindset he was in at the time. was having thoughts about quitting, suicide and lost a lot of his love things in his life. Context needed
but obviously at the core this is literally an unfinished, mumbling demo so i can understand not getting the "hype."
The sample of the song also is important and not talked about enough. it comes from a Japan icon artist who ended up killing herself in the 80's at age 18. Ended her suicide note with "I wanted to see him again" and she never did

yo this is crazy
the timestamp from @ready2die seems to explain too i never seen that vid
feel like we kinda let the topic slip through the cracks wanted to make a thread about it a couple months ago but forgot
Cus even Power essentially boils down by the outro to be about someone having the power to kill themselves and Ye basically saying it would be beautiful to jump out a window ("do you have to power to let power go?"). And thats so interesting cus we use Power for sports chants, commercials, etc.. all the time. Very eerie stuff that kinda gets shoved cus the music is so good.
When he says "can you clap your hands" and you hear just one pair of hands clapping and you realize he was clapping his hands by himself in the studio

Also I just ready she jumped off a building to her death
Now this would be a beautiful death, jumping out the window
Kanye in 2009/2010: suicidal, still grieving Donda's death, alcoholic, doing d****, addicted to p***, hated and mocked by the media and public to the point that he had to move out of the US
Locals on twitter: I miss the old Kanye when he was truly happy 😭 -picture of Kanye with Amber Rose-

didn't know that
I honestly don't know if its a direct sample either i just relied on so many pointing it out even in the comments of that vid. I think at worst it was inspired by it like the video in the post above my last said. Like maybe a similar design to the opening chord

Yo when the f*** was the chord sample found I never knew we’d found it, everyone was saying it was a mario sample for years
no idea i wish i knew too. i still don't think its 100% confirmed but signs pointing to this being the inspiration.
saw a reddit thread from late 2019 talking about it, a twitter thread and other stuff just in the past couple years. think the video above is relatively recent as well
