Idk how early this post is but it was my first time hearing about it thru a yt short n i looked into it a bit more.

The verse that is on Kings Dead was meant as a outro or bridge from Future and to be cut if they wanted, and he also laid a "real" verse.

But Kendrick like the "la-di-daddi-da" etc. "outro" a lot and made that his actual verse while cutting out the "real" verse - and said its the best part of the song and what is gonna make the song really go.

Just thot it was interesting to see how much excutive producing Kendrick was really doing in 2017 and 2018 with Damn and Black Panther.

just like, as another example, Vince Staples verse on BP soundtrack is written by Kendrick and was originally meant for Kendrick, but thot Vince would fit the verse better after he heard Big Fish Theory. Which Vince said he rapped verbaitm of Kendrick's lyrics, just rapped it in his own way:
