I think this topic deserves its own thread. We've all experienced playing a game long after launch and being disappointed; but what games, particularly games with a lot of hype, actually lived up to that hype?
In terms of the release of Cyberpunk this is a very important question
Personally Red Dead 2 and God of War were the last game in the last 3 years which lived up to the the tremendous hype thed had. The Last of us 2 for example not so
All the gta games
Last gen
Met or exceeded expectations:
Persona 5
God of War
Sekiro
Breath of the Wild
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Bloodborne
Nier
Biggest let downs:
The Division
Anthem
Red Dead 2
Last of Us
Spider Man
Pokemon Sword & Shield
Ni No Kuni 2
Nioh
Uncharted 4
FF 7 Remake
Rdr2, GTA V, last of us 2
TLOU2 as a story did not, gameplay did however
GOW, BOTW, Yakuza 7, FF7 Remake, Persona games, Sekiro, doom, witcher 3, tlou1, spiderman, nier automata, pokemon hgss,
biggest letdowns imo:
The Last of Us 2
Skyrim
Kinda Death Stranding (expected a more mind blowing story but still a 8/10, the war scenes with mads mikkelsen were underwhelming too)
The Last Guardian (these controls )
The Outer Worlds (people praised it as New Vegas 2, not even better than FO4 )
Tlou2
Rdr2
Half life alyx
Mario odyssey
God of war
Sekiro
Uncharted 4
GTA 5
There’s more but I can’t think of atm
BOTW
People saying uncharted 4 that game was amazing
Whole series incredible
only time I ever got disappointed from high expectations was destiny 1
This the best answer in fall off
Witcher 3 for me
GTA
God of war
Skyrim
There's not many games j get super hype on.
Hopefully cyberpunk lives up to the hype for me, I wasn't wildin and expecting this game to be like a 2nd life like a bunch of people so I think it will ultimately do it for me
TLOU 2
RDR 2
MGS 4
GTA IV
GOW (2018)
GTA SAN ANDREAS
For me honestly, quite a few I could go on..
