@Prez israel is a colonizing occupying illegitimate state created in 1948 that has gone on to ethnically cleanse millions of sovereign Palestinians since. Palestinians have resisted being colonized by this occupying zionist force for over 75 years. Palestinians have the right to defend their sovereignty/existence by any means necessary. The occupier by definition is never in a defensive stance.

Gaza is a concentration camp. It is full of children on the brink of starvation. The economy has been de-developed. Its infrastructure has been destroyed. Life is actually hell there. The IDF are basically prison guards on the perimeter. They surveil them and brutalize them and humiliate them at will. They have a naval blockade as well. Very rarely can anyone leave.

Hamas came to power in this reality. Most of the people in Gaza weren't even alive when Hamas won that election. Hamas is the government. They aren't just their military element. Al Aqsa Storm was an operation carried out by 1,500 combatants.

Gaza is 2,000,000+ plus and is getting bombed into rubble. They are being told to crowd into an even smaller area while they starve in the dark. Most of the world powers are cosigning this. Those are not just people online. They are governments providing arms and assistance and their blessing to kill and starve civilians.

The Hamas operation was a brief interruption. An anomaly in a long established pattern. The Gazans tried peaceful resistance with the Great March of Return and nothing improved. Snipers shot reporters and kids and people in wheelchairs. The news just ignored a lot of this.

If you want to understand why this attack happened, you have to have some context. This is that context. Hamas only came to power in this context and it only acted this way in this context.

These people aren’t forced to think of a question to ask others. No one’s forcing them to ‘both sides’ a hundred year violent, humiliating & dehumanising occupation project an hour after a hospital was destroyed. being flippant in a ktt2 thread seems like a very unproductive way to obtain a robust education on something like this
